Plazas

Monday and Tuesday we had placement exams. Tuesday was the oral exam, and to prepare, one of the other students, Kaitlin, and I wandered off to a little plaza for lunch and talked entirely in Spanish. It was quite delightful. The plazas are one of the best things about Spain because they're just so cute, with benches and restaurants and fountains.

So, here are some pictures of the Plaza de Olavide:

The fountain in the center is surrounded by rosebushes. In fact, this entire plaza is surrounded by rosebushes. There will be pictures (but in a later post).

Since this plaza also basically amounts to a big roundabout (minus the street with cars), the restaurants on the fringes set up all their cute outdoor furniture and it all runs together. So it's a fountain, surrounded by rosebushes, in a plaza, surrounded by rosebushes and lined with tables and chairs. It was like a big target of awesomeness.

I had patatas bravas (which is basically french fries in a spicy ketchup sauce), and a Fanta.

Fanta is soooo much yummier here than in the States.
