I really wanted to go to Guadalupe because there is a pretty popular vacation tradition amongst young people in Spain of renting a casa rural for the weekend. It's a bit like a road trip + AirBnB, but you go to small towns and get a cool house all to yourself.
The idea of a casa rural is that it's a farm or cabin, but it doesn't have to be. Ours was just on the edge of Guadalupe. That means it was only a ten-minute walk to the center of town, but we still got awoken by roosters and sheep.
But even cooler than the rural-ness was the casa's enclosed patio. It had a stone wall with a built in outdoor barbecue/roasting pit. And it had LOADS of bonsai trees.
My friend A knows the owner, and she's fairly positive that they made the bonsais themselves, since they have a farm.
I thought it was a pretty neat touch.
