This past weekend, I traveled with two Fulbright friends to a tiny town called Guadalupe (I can now cross Extremadura off my list of autonomous regions to visit!). It's a beautiful little village in the middle of the Sierra de las Villuercas mountain range, and it houses the lovely monastery of Santa MarĂa de Guadalupe.
We stayed in a little house there and for the most part just hung out, enjoyed the little town and the beautiful nature surrounding it, and lit a fire in the fireplace on Halloween. We also ate a lot of cheese and made some brownies (because brownies).
Here's a picture of the front of the monastery. It has some beautiful Gothic architecture, and all the turrets are covered in ceramic tile, which I found gave it a sort of exotic feel.
I'm going to keep posting photos and updates from the trip to Guadalupe over the next few weeks, because a LOT of shenanigans happened in Extremadura. A LOT.
